The Austin Veteran Arts Festival (AVAFEST) Run, Walk, & Roll 5K is hosted by the Veterans Suicide Prevention Channel (VSPC), a non-profit organization, aiming to address veteran suicide by unifying veterans with their communities through different art mediums. This is a race for athletes of all capabilities including those who use wheelchairs or prosthetic devices. The race is part of the month-long festival which uses art to foster creative expression in our veterans to decrease the negative symptoms associated with traumatic events.
AVAFest will include a variety of activities, such as art exhibits, dance, theater performances, and live virtual events centered on health and wellness. These events will serve as an opportunity for veterans, their family members, and the surrounding community to experience the healing power of art and learn about local, state, and national resources serving the veteran population. Due to the evolving gobal pandemic this years' race will be a virtual event. What does that mean for you - This means everyone who participates gets to run a 5k anywhere they choose (Track, neighborhood streets, down hill course, trail, ect.). Runners will submit their times using the Its Your Race App on your smart phone or by emailing the race director at avafestrun@gmail.com. The results page will show how you compare against other athletes as well as how you finished in your age group. As a virtual event all participants will receive a finisher medal, swag bag & AVAFest information package, but you must register befor Oct. 15 to be guaranteed a 2021 AVAFest t-shirt.
In an effort to maximize awareness and donations this year we have an option for Team divisions. You and 4 of your friends can compete against other teams by collecting the most donations for the VSPC. The Top Team will recieve a trophy and a 3 minute video clip in honor of a Veteran of your choice. The video will run all year long on the Veterans Suicide Prevention Channel website.

Virtual race will open on Nov. 5 @ 7:00 am and close on Nov. 13 @ & 7:00 pm.
